Bicycling Basics – On Bike is a 3-hour outdoor workshop where you will learn and practice all the different techniques and situations that you learned in Bicycling Basics – Classroom while working in small groups with our certified League Cycling Instructors (LCI) to improve your bicycle handling skills and ride defensively to keep you safe with traffic on roads.
It will prepare you to bike more confidently on streets. This class is open to anyone 14 and older. Attendees must bring a well maintained functional bicycle they can ride and their helmet. This class is a half-sized version of our full length Smart Cycling class.
The class is held outdoors in the Berryessa Transit Center Parking lot at https://goo.gl/maps/fVTKaVZgM8XuTYHd6 (if it is NOT raining ) or in the nearby parking garage (if it is raining) and on neighboring streets.
Prerequisites:
1. Be able to ride a bike with one hand and be able to look over your shoulder while riding.
2. Must have completed any of the following: Biking Basics – Classroom, Bike Commuting, Family Biking, Smart Cycling Part 1, or Bike Safety & Rules of the Road (some of these are available as recordings at https://bikesiliconvalley.org/learn-ride/learn)
All those who attend will receive a free patch kit with tire levers and/or other rewards.
Instruction may also be available in Spanish. Please specify which languages are ok for you when you register. We cannot accommodate other languages this time around but may be able to arrange for other languages in the future depending on demand and instructor availability.
