Bodegas Roda was founded in 1987 by Mario Rotllant and Carmen Daurella, who, from the beginning, have refused to compromise their philosophy: perfection at all stages of winemaking. They were drawn to the traditional wineries of Rioja and aimed “to create superb, high-expression red wines in a modern style reflective of the region and the constituent varieties, yet embodying something unique.” Located in Haro’s historic Railway Station District in La Rioja, RODA works with a total of 120 hectares planted to the native red varieties (Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano) – all old bush vines; no irrigation; minimum intervention. Their uncompromising commitment to quality and sustainability is evident in the extensive research and development department and the state-of-the-art gravity flow winery. RODA’s wines “find that magic balance between volume and airiness, voluptuousness and freshness; wines for enjoying from the moment they appear on the market but which live through many decades”.
