Several year ago, the Club began the practice of setting up an ofrenda, or altar, in memory of the members we had lost during the year. Following the Mexican practice of gathering objects dear to the departed—photographs and mementos—the ofrenda is usually decorated with marigold flowers and candles. The altar is constructed, families and friends gather, and fond memories are shared in remembrance of lives past.
Come view the alters, ofrendas, lovingly constructed by club member Mary Lou Mason, who will describe and discuss the traditions of this religious holiday, as we remember long-time members Kathryn Young and Patiti Lively, and pay tribute to Chris Esparza, an important force for our Club and community. You will also be invited to add your own loved ones to our existing altars.
Memories and traditions will be shared. Delicious food, pan de muertos, tasty mocktails and cocktails will be served and spirits will be lifted among friends.
