December 29 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Don’t miss him! It is always a treat to see a true living legend of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar. Fran Guidry opening for Ledward Kaapana

Do not miss this opportunity to see a true living legend of Hawaiian music.

Led Kaapana’s mastery of stringed instruments, particularly slack key guitar, and his extraordinary baritone and leo ki`eki`e (falsetto) voices, have made him a musical legend. He has been thrilling audiences for more than 40 years. With easy-going style and kolohe (rascal) charm, he has built a loyal corps of Led Heads from Brussels to his birthplace on the Big Island of Hawaii. Recognition by his peers earned Led 4 Grammy nominations in his own right and 2 wins on slack key compilations. He is one of the very few Hawaiian recording artists who has received Na Hoku Hanohano Awards from the Hawai’i Academy of Recording Arts (HARA) for work as a member of three different recording entities—as a solo artist, as a member of Ledward Kaapana & I Kona, and as a member of Hui ‘Ohana.

He is also a recipient of the 2011 National Heritage Fellowship awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts, which is the United States government’s highest honor in the folk and traditional arts.
