Spring Literary Seminar: The Paul Chowder Chronicles by Nicholson Baker

Kimberly has been dying to read Nicholson Baker for the entire eight years(!) we have been doing the Seminars. The Anthologist (half of The Paul Chowder Chronicles)* is SUCH good grist for her mill. This inventive pseudo-memoir follows Paul Chowder’s attempts to write an introduction to a poetry anthology called Only Rhyme. His meditations on his writer’s block, his (failing) love life and life in general are funny, incisive, wide-reaching, and weirdly relatable. Even non-lovers of poetry (like Kimberly) will love this hilarious, brainy, unique novel!

*We will only discuss The Anthologist, but The Paul Chowder Chronicles also includes the sequel, Traveling Sprinkler.

Enjoy a deep dive into The Paul Chowder Chronicles in this relaxed and entertaining 90-minute session with Kimberly Ford, best-selling author, Ph.D. and former adjunct professor at Berkeley. Please join us either in person at Kepler’s or, for our out-of-town attendees, we have an option to attend virtually. The book is available for purchase, and can be picked up at Kepler’s so that it can be read prior to the Seminar. Thanks to a generous donor, you may also elect to have your book shipped at no cost to you.

For virtual attendees access information will be sent in an email reminder 24 hours before the event as well as one hour prior to the event. If you can’t join us live, or just want to go over your favorite part of the talk, your ticket will give you access to the recording for 30 days following the Seminar.
