On September 27th, Amigos de Guadalupe will be hosting a Sowing Seeds of Justice Fiesta and Community Celebration to honor its 12th anniversary, the power of our community, and to raise much-needed funds to continue to move towards transformational change in East San Jose. Join us for an unforgettable gathering of over 300 passionate advocates spanning diverse sectors and communities.
Our community gathering exemplifies our guiding principle of “Radical Hospitality.” Your journey begins with a warm embrace and your choice of refreshing agua fresca or fine wine or beer. Immerse yourself in the festive ambiance, listen to the beautiful sounds of mariachi and heartfelt community stories, and enjoy a delicious Mexican dinner in the beautiful setting of the Mexican Heritage Plaza.
Amigos de Guadalupe grows out of the vibrant, determined community of Mayfair. Our mission is to ensure that the basic needs of our community are met through high quality programs and through organizing our community to improve conditions for our families here and in the surrounding region. Together we stand as a beacon of hope for thousands of individuals and families.
At the 2024 Sowing Seeds of Justice event, Amigos will unveil a groundbreaking new initiative to end poverty for the 3,300 families who live in Mayfair. Ending poverty has always been Amigos’ guiding mission, but this moment marks the powerful launch of “Si Se Puede Mayfair”. Through a variety of strategic new programs, we aim to increase household income across the neighborhood to eradicate intergenerational poverty. Together with the Si Se Puede Collective, we are beginning in Mayfair and hope to grow the work in other communities nearby, as a model for what can be done here and across the state and country.
The time is now to join hands and ignite change. Join the movement, ¡Si Se Puede!
At the celebration, we will also pay tribute to exceptional members of the Amigos’ Community through our Awards of Gratitude, including the Spark of Light award, in memory of Monsignor John Sandersfeld. You will hear from Maritza Maldonado, the visionary Founder and Executive Director of Amigos de Guadalupe, alongside other captivating speakers, who will offer insights into how your involvement impacts the lives of community members.
