Tavern Talks are back! We are heading back to Montebello Road as Vidovich Vineyards will be hosting Kevin Ferguson, author of Rain on the Monte Bello Ridge, a memoir about health, aging and winemaking. He is also the grandson of the book’s central figures, winemaker Mario Gemello and his centenarian widow, Kay Gemello.
Mario Gemello was born on Montebello Road in a little house, next door to the Picchetti Winery, where his father, John, worked. John later had his own vineyard up the winding road, before Prohibition. The Gemellos later moved to Mountain View. At the end of Prohibition, John and his son Mario, launched Gemello Winery, which was a local favorite from 1934 – 1990.
